Booty: the force that brings us together.
Having started as a conceptual space-funk opera in 2008 by brothers Nathan and Dylan Germick, Planet Booty has evolved into a hip-grinding, sweat-pouring live show of epic proportions. The expanded ensemble fuses electronics (synths, beats, samples) with live instruments (drums, guitars, horns, percussion..) and a hellacious excess of energy. The resulting blend of dance beats pushes the limits of space-funk and electro-gospel, drawing influences from such artists as LMFAO, Chromeo, Talking Heads and James Brown.
Zeb Early is a Memphis-born, California-based DJ/Producer/Musician/Emcee who brings uplifting vibes to any audience or project. Rooted in funk & soul music with a deep understanding of bass-heavy Reggae, Dancehall, Hip-hop and Dubstep; there's is no pinning this guy down.
He fronts the legendary 70's throwback group Mama's Cookin' and The Meters Tribute band Funky Miracle, and is also lead guitarist for Peter Joseph Burtt & The King Tide.
Micah J is a Tahoe Based DJ that brings a crowd wherever he goes. A favorite at The Bounce Festival and Burning Man, expect Micah J to light it up at Mardi Squaw. Afrolicious has established itself as both one of the most legendary weekly parties in San Francisco, and of the top live/electronic bands on the scene. Started as a weekly dance party featuring DJ's and brothers Pleasuremaker and Señor Oz alongside percussionists, MC's and horn players, and an amazing crowd from day one. Over the years it has evolved as founding DJ/Producer Pleausremaker (Joe McGuire) alongside brother Señor Oz (Oz McGuire) hooked up with some of the most exciting personalities in the Bay Area music scene and started writing original music under the alias Afrolicious. Around 2010 the live Pleasuremaker band started including some of this new 'Afrolicious' material and added more of the percussionists and vocalists from the weekly party to form what is now the Afrolicious band.
Repping Faction Sound Crew and leading online Caribbean lifestyle magazine LargeUp.com, Deejay Theory continues to push the DJ / producer role forward in his homebase of San Francisco, CA and throughout the world. Creating music all his life and now a key player in the explosive tropical bass movement, Theory has a natural strength for flipping a broad range of material, putting his signature touch on everything from Busy Signal to Alex Clare to Santana. Think dancehall meets dance music, bass meets soul, turntablism meets club, tropical disco meets the pool, and we’re literally just getting warm.
Matt Haze began his DJ career in the Bronx as a husky 10 year-old, cutting up the dopest Paula Abdul and MC Hammer cassingles at his little sister’s birthday party. In high school, he took a fervent interest underground music and started attending basement shows and warehouse raves. To share his newfound passion, Haze founded NYC a pirate radio station with two tape decks, a mail-order transmitter kit and a ratty pair of old headphones that doubled as the studio mic.
Today, after logging thousands of frequent flyer miles and hundreds of gigs, Haze brings an eclectic flavor and sophisticated sonic palette to the turntables. Don’t be surprised to hear Israeli dancehall, Brazilian funk, Ukrainian hip-hop or German oompahtronics in the mix alongside the latest heavy bass cuts and always a few dusties from his deep crates!
Professor Bang has been DJing since 1998, when he inherited a mismatched pair of decks and a secondhand mixer from some friends. Never one to do things the easy way, he learned to beatmatch with drum n’ bass, and it wasn’t long before he was spinning at raves and clubs around the Bay Area and Northern California. His tastes quickly wandered beyond d n’ b, leading him to gigs spinning house, hip-hop, indie rock and beyond; his background as a multi-instrumentalist and singer may be to blame for his genre-bending style. Juggling bands, a radio career and DJ gigs makes for some late nights and early mornings, but pBang’s commitment to bringing crucial sounds to the dancefloor is unwavering. Since joining forces with Slayers Club in late 2008, Professor Bang has brought his talents to bear on new venues, new audiences and new styles…with plenty more to come!
